Shared credit and blame
By BAILEY J. MOLINEUX - For the Independent Record - 08/14/07
Most parents want their children to be successful, to marry well and to find enjoyable work that provides an adequate income. Most parents feel responsible for how their children turn out, but especially the mother, who usually does the largest share of parenting.
However, there are so many factors that influence how our children turn out as adults that we cannot take the full blame, or credit, for the results of our parenting efforts.
Consider the following list of what determines how children do in life.
The relationship with the mother is probably the number one factor since she usually does most of the parenting during the early years which are so important for later personality development. Mother is the first person with whom we have a loving relationship and it can set the stage for all future loving relationships.
